Four years ago today I was in London for the first time. I fell in love wandering around streets, parks and galleries alone listening to Feist.
Three years ago I visited again with my man, we agreed to live there sometime.
Two years ago I started my fantastic job at Droga5 in Auckland, it put a holt on the plans to dominate the UK.
One year ago I got a visa, booked a flight and lined up job interviews determined to move to London, but was convinced to stay put.
Now once again I’m dreaming of squirrels, Marks & Spencer mousse and rainy afternoons in museums. Maybe it will work out this time? Feel free to give me a job if you have one going!
I can’t get London off my mind, so here is some art that I’d love to see again soon:
‘The Madonna with the Iris’ (about 1500 to 1510) DÜRER, Albrecht, workshop & ‘The Vision of Saint Helena’ (1560-5) VERONESE, Paolo at The National Gallery
‘The Dead Christ supported by Two Angels’ (about 1470-5) CRIVELLI, Carlo & ‘The Baptism of Christ’ (1450s) PIERO della Francesca at The National Gallery
‘Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose’ (1885-6) SINGER SARGENT, John & ‘Chair’ (1969) JONES, Allen at Tate Britain
‘Meet the People’ (1948) & ‘I was a Rich Man’s Plaything’ (1947) PAOLOZZI, Sir Eduardo at Tate Britain
‘Interior with Waterlilies’ (1991) LICHTENSTEIN, Roy at the Tate Modern
